We’ve started 2015 with a bang! It’s been a busy first week for us here at the club – with full mats, enthusiastic students, and a number of promotions!

Our first day back this year was Saturday Jan. 3. Saturdays are normally our busiest days as we run 3 of our 4 classes back to back in the afternoon.

It was great to see the Little Champs eagerly get on the mats, ready to start playing their Bullyproof games. Two of our Little Champs earned their well-deserved stripes on their White Belt.

Our Jr. Grapplers attentively watched as the Kimura armlock was demonstrated, and they did a terrific job practicing with each other. Time off the mats over winter break had them more than eager to play a couple rounds of King of the Hill. There were a couple more stripe promotions for our White-Yellow Belts.

We had a great turnout for our first Combatives class of the year and were happy to welcome quite a few new members to the Watford Gracie Jiu-Jitsu family.

On Sunday (Jan. 4) we started a new chapter in the Master Cycle curriculum. Everyone was eager to get try out the new moves and brush up on previous techniques during the sparring session. We were also happy to welcome our newest Blue Belt to the class.

Our final session on the mats for the weekend was Gracie Games Day! Our Bullyproof kids eagerly wait for this day, which they can attend after they’ve successfully completed their Character Development tasks and earned their points. The kids (and adults) had a great time!

Our first week of the year ended with a celebration of our one year anniversary. It’s been amazing watching our students at all levels progress consistently. Their enthusiasm for the art and their camaraderie both on and off the mats has made Watford Gracie Jiu-Jitsu feel like home. Thanks for a great first year! Stay tuned as we’ve got lots of great things planned for 2015!
